Integrating Critical Sources

  • Remember to use your critical source as evidence, never as the point. You author your paper; the critic does not author your paper.
  • If you use a quotation by your critic, introduce the quotation and analyze it just as you would a quotation from the primary source (the novel or film).
  • If you paraphrase the critic, cite!
  • Remember to use [x] or . . . if you add or delete from the exact words of the quotation.
  • When you quote more than one primary source in your paper, included a Works Cited at the end. Refer to MLA citations in yor Troyka!
