Comparative Education Case Study: Cambodia

For my course in Comparative International Education at the Monterey Institute of International Studies, I researched Cambodia’s educational system in depth. The complete case study can be navigated through the tool bar above under the “Comparative Education Case Study: Cambodia” tab or through the sidebar menu to the right. Happy browsing!

Personally, I became interested in Cambodia after I was fortunate enough to spend several days in the country in March 2013 during my time working in Southeast Asia (you’ll find several of my personal photos scattered within the website!) Cambodia is still very much recovering from the devastation that the Khmer Rouge regime brought to the country in the 1970s. I am interested in learning more about how educational systems, and generations of students, are affected by war and conflict. Unfortunately, there are many countries that fall into this category these days. I hope that by studying Cambodia I will be able to identify not just the consequences of war on education, but also strategies for recovery, which may be applicable worldwide.
