The Undergrad Years: Pomona College, ’07-’11

After graduating from The Ethel Walker School in Simsbury, CT in 2007, I completed my undergraduate degree at Pomona College in Claremont, CA. Part of the Claremont Colleges, my time at Pomona gave me the opportunity to explore a variety of subjects that I had not previous studied, like cognitive science and environmental studies. Eventually, forced to pick a major, I received my BA in Environmental Analysis with a focus in Chemistry, and a minor in Psychology in 2011. For a detailed writing sample, please see my undergraduate senior thesis, completed in 2011 in partial fulfillment of my BA in Environmental Analysis:

When Curiosity Kills More Than the Cat: The Perils of Unchecked Scientific Inquiry

During my time at Pomona I was actively involved in intramural sports, while also working several jobs on campus. Of these, I most enjoyed working as a staff member with OTL (On the Loose), our very popular outdoors club, and as an assistant in the Study Abroad Office on campus. It was here that my professional interest in international education really developed when I realized that I could make a career out of my true passion: forging connections between people around the world.

Graduate Training: Monterey Institute of International Studies, ’13-’14

With two years out in the “real world” under my belt, including a year and half in Boston and five months in Thailand, I decided it was time to head back to school. As luck would have it, I ran into an old classmate from high school three days after returning from Thailand who told me about the new International Education Management MA program at the Monterey Institute of International Studies (MIIS).
