WildAid Marine, San Francisco
I am passionate about creating engaging, interactive ways for individuals to learn about the challenges and opportunities facing our oceans and marine environments. Working with WildAid Marine, I had the opportunity to develop a series of donor and community outreach events and hone my event planning skills. The San Francisco Bay Area is home to dozens of nonprofits that offer individuals opportunities to get involved in volunteer activities and educational events. There is so much going on in the Bay Area that I quickly learned how important strategic partnerships can be in developing a community outreach plan. By identifying nonprofits whose work complemented the work WildAid does, I was able to help WildAid reach to new audiences and form lasting relationships in the nonprofit community. Of course, I also learned the importance of balancing partnerships with fun, innovative events that remained true to the WildAid “brand.”
The experience reinforced my belief that marketing, communications, and community outreach are a crucial part of the work that any nonprofit does. An organization can be doing the most important, vital work but if they cannot tell their story and connect with new audiences in a meaningful way it is incredibly difficult to scale their impact. Overall, I am grateful for the opportunity to work with WildAid and gain experience working with strategic partners on event planning and community outreach.
