Ola Mundo! (Hello World)!
So, I just finished my first year of graduate school at the Monterey Institute of International Studies, a graduate school of Middlebury; where I’m working on a master’s in public administration & international management. My specialization is business and emerging/frontier markets. I was fortunate enough to be a part of a ground breaking new endeavor that my school has begun called the Frontier Market Scouts Program. I was a virtual scout last year and am a field scout this fall. There’s only one problem, my placement is in brazil. This isn’t technically a problem except for my language at MIIS is Spanish (every student must have a language). As a result of the agreement brokered with my internship site, I agreed to learn Portuguese! This leads me to the purpose of this blog– which is to give insight to what I’m doing in the field and most importantly, what I’m learning.
I will be in Salvador de Bahia, Brasil learning Portuguese for about a month, then gearing up/doing a 6-month internship in São Paulo. Come along for the ride, which is sure to be full of highs and lows (hopefully, mostly highs)! I’ll try to post something twice a week or more and I’ll try to entertaining when I can!
Happy Reading!
