New Equipment – Kino Diva 200 Lights

Another reason for having this blog is to showcase new equipment that the department has purchased.  Over the summer we added a new florescent lighting kit that consists of two Kino Diva 200 Lights, stands, and diffusion.

These lights are great for interviews and other indoor lighting situations that need to be setup and taken down quickly.  The Diva 200 kit fits into one large case that has it’s own wheels for easy transport and the setup process takes only three easy steps per light.  Use the two lights by themselves from the front for a high key lighting effect or add a bounceboard and use the dimmers to create a more dramatic low key effect.

The Diva 200s can take either tungsten or daylight balanced lamps and it takes only a moment to switch between the two.  Because they are florescent lights they will not generate the heat that our tungsten kits produce which make them a favorite for actors and actresses in more confined spaces.  Adding the included flozier makes for soft diffused light that your talent and DP will both be impressed with.

With the addition of this kit we now have three florescent lighting kits available to film and media culture students including a Kino Diva 400 kit consisting of two Diva 400 fixtures and a Lowel Case Light Kit that includes two Case lights.  We are excited to add the Diva 200 kit to fill the void between the larger 400 lights that are more geared for studio use and the smaller case light kit that is only suitable for smaller sets.  Stay tuned for a Friday afternoon demo of this equipment.
