This semester students explored a local environmental subject and set out to write and revise creative nonfiction pieces as they met local experts and investigated their chosen subjects. This course is an introduction to environmental writing through regular discussion of student work and analysis of texts by modern and contemporary authors. Workshops focused on composition and revision, with particular attention to the basics of form and craft. Students collected a portfolio of shorter samples that led to a final essay of 7-10 pp (1700-2500 words). Those essays appear on this public class site.
