Team Monterey was in full force during the January or “J-term” of the 2008-2009 academic year. This year’s team marked the third anniversary of the inaugural Team Monterey of 2007 and represented a significant step in the maturation of the relationship between the Monterey Institute and La Coordinadora – Asocaición Mangle (a Salvadoran community based organization). As a symbol of international partnership and solidarity, the MOU ensures that La Coordinadora – Asocaición Mangle (LC-AM) will continue to provide project placements for Institute students in various program areas including environmental protection, sustainable agriculture, natural resource conservation, youth empowerment, infrastructure and micro-business. As a means of ensuring the effectiveness and continuity of project recommendations by Team Monterey, the development of an internship program will facilitate the continuity of January projects.
