Bristol Cliffs Wilderness Area

Breathtaking view is photographed from the Devil’s Pulpit on the brow of the Cliffs looking North.

This article is firmly in the realm of preserving nature so that we can continue to enjoy it. “This preservation of land for now and for the future seemed to be the theme of the Governor’s thinking, so that later generations could have the chance to see the land as it was.” What’s interesting is that the article does not take the time to depict what our relationship with nature should or could be in the future. The photos simply depict what is being preserved to remain untouched but doesn’t touch on the experience that is claimed to be preserved. It seems more like the nature is being preserved as something that should not be touched or disturbed because otherwise it will be ruined. Any human presence in the place is unsightly. Somehow even the large “zoomed out” photo manages to be unmarred by the towns in the valley.
