This is a sparsely photographed article more about an idea than a real project. This is interesting to note, how in Vermont Life, when things are less practical and more theoretical then the ecological environmentalism shines through. It is not about the utility of being able to fish for salmon. It is presented in some form of utility of beauty and appreciation. It is not presented through an ethical lens of this restoration being the right thing to do. This ethical lens, in fact, doesn’t show up at all in Vermont Life.
The photo of the river basin represents more than a simple vision because there has been some work to figure out details. However, because it is hard to illustrate through photograph the absence of salmon (this is before CGI), the article doesn’t capture the environmental energy and possibility in the article.
