DU-Bloody Mannequin

On May 7-8, 1988, Delta Upsilon hung from its balcony a “mutilated” female mannequin with Random Hole scrawled on it. The Women’s Union and other members of the community protested. This resulted in the fraternity’s suspension for a year and their subsequent ban of all fraternities from campus. Student activism also resulted in the formation of Chellis House, the Women’s Resource Center, the major in Women’s Studies, and Feminist Action at Middlebury (FAM).
