Chinese Hackers Pursue Key Data on U.S. Government Workers. The Office of Personnel Management has apparently had its servers and databases breached by Chinese origin hackers. The hackers may have been searching for a list and personal details of all US Government Personnel who had applied for security clearances. It remains unclear if they were able to obtain that data in the course of the breach.

Smart LED light bulbs leak wi-fi passwords. Context Security has released details of a security lapse in the design of the LIFX LED light bulb, which allow users to remotely control their lights using a smartphone. Apparently the devices also leak Wi-Fi passwords in a way which is readable to any interlocutor who poses as a new light bulb entering the network.

EFF sues NSA over snoops ‘hoarding’ zero-day security bugs. The controversy over the purchase of zero-day flaws has expanded with a new lawsuit by the EFF against the NSA for their practices. The aim of the lawsuit is the release of US Government policies related to the decision between the use of an exploit and disclosure to the responsible vendors.
