Ben Austen has written an excellent article for Wired talking about the ways social media has fueled violence in some neighborhoods of Chicago. It ably demonstrates that as electronic communication comes to mediate more and more parts of our lives; conflict, even violent conflict, also assumes a place in the ether of cyberspace.
