Collaborative Teaching Across Disciplines: a Conversation about Opportunities and Challenges

Presenters: Steve Abbott (Mathematics), Cheryl Faraone (Theatre)

Monday, January 23rd, 11:00 – 12:15, lunch following

Steve Abbott and Cheryl Faraone discuss the difficulties and rewards of their twenty year collaboration on the course “Math and Science as Art in Contemporary Theatre.” Difficulties include required collaboration among departments, instilling rigor into both elements of the course, and managing student experience levels. Rewards include a realization of the definition of the liberal arts experience along with some unexpected extensions to our respective scholarly and creative endeavors.
