Further exploration of grades and grading

The Case Against Grades, article by Alfie Kohn, EDUCATIONAL LEADERSHIP, November, 2011.

Thought experiment: if there were no letter grades, would faculty teach differently? would students learn differently?

In this facilitated discussion, we invite faculty and students to consider the role grades play in the teaching and learning process.

Participants are encouraged to bring examples of student activities, assignments, and feedback strategies that de-emphasize grades while promoting deep learning. Please join us for a frank conversation where students and faculty can share their perspectives and learn from each other.

Lunch will be served at each event in the Center for Teaching, Learning & Research 12:15 – 1 pm. Please RSVP below at least two days in advance of the event. Thank you.
