This simulation class enables students to travel back in time, to see and reenact how states, holding different positions, negotiated and finalized the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of nuclear weapons (NPT). It will not only enhance students’ knowledge of the Treaty and the politics surrounding it but also introduce them to the basics of diplomacy and bargaining.

This power point-based lecture is specifically customized for high school students and gives a rundown of the catastrophic effects of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima in 1945. This will also highlight the significance of doing substantive work to promote nuclear disarmament.

This useful resource touches on the history of nuclear testing around the world. This resource comprises of quizzes, video footage, and veterans’ testimonies. Through these interactive media, students will be able to better understand the horrors associated with nuclear weapons.  

6. Promoting Peace & Empathy through Children’s Stories of Nuclear War – Highly Nriched 

Storytelling is an effective way to raise awareness about nuclear dangers. Drawing on videos, documentaries, and testimonies of Japanese children who were affected by World War 2 and the atomic bombings that ended it, this lecture will try to advance peacebuilding through emphasizing with survivors and victims.  

7. Resilience and Forgiveness Project – Highly Nriched 

This was a year-long research-oriented project aimed to honor and pay tribute to 2 Hibakusha. Feel free to choose the way you would like to honor them. For example, to acknowledge and commend an individual who was a gardener, students could plant a tree, publish an article, and host a Ted Talk on environmental protection. 

8. Hiroshima Gallery Walk Activity – Highly Nriched 

This hour-long walk immerses you on the power and influence on images and pictures in shaping a batter tomorrow. By witnessing this exhibition, you would be able to recreate powerful images in their minds and help you internalize the pain and agony of the victims of the bombing of Hiroshima. This will have an impact on the perceptions about nuclear weapons. 

9. Peace Education Lesson plan using Sadako’s Story from Egypt – Highly Nriched 

This group-led workshop will help high school students understand the short- and long-term impacts of nuclear war on humanity, making them realize the importance of working towards eliminating the scourge of nuclear weapons.
