Middlebury College Costume Shop
The Costume Shop at Middlebury College provides costumes for productions on and off campus. We are the stewards of an enormous collection of hats, shoes, jewelry, garments, masks, and accessories. These items are primarily used for productions during the academic year (faculty and student shows) and the Summer Language School, but may also be rented or borrowed by others.
The spaces maintained and used by the Costume Shop are located in the Mahaney Arts Center (MAC) and Wright Theatre (WTH). Most stage costumes are housed in the MAC; the Middlebury College Antique Clothing Collection (MCACC) is located at Wright Theater. The workroom in the MAC is outfitted with tools and machines to maintain, alter, and build costumes and accessories. This space is primarily used by staff and work study students, but is also available after hours by permission to students.
The Costume Shop is a place in which MIDD students can learn about the many aspects of theater costume. The most common opportunities for students are working in the Shop and taking courses taught by the resident designer, Assistant Professor of Theatre, Mira Veikley (see http://www.middlebury.edu/academics/thea/courses).
