Build Trust
With global, virtual teams the lack of face-to-face and relationship building time is challenging for team members to build trust among each other.
Cognitive trust: based on rational assessment of activities, function of a person’s integrity and ability
Affective trust: based on social bonds developed in a reciprocal relationship emotional ties
Although building trust among global virtual teams is a challenge it is not impossible an there are several things that managers can do in order for team members to build trust:
- Create a clear vision
- Clearly define roles related to that vision
- Provide team members information about the qualifications of other members
