Web of Science? Scopus!

You might have noticed a few “Like Web of Science?” table tents around Armstrong.  We have a trial subscription to a database called Scopus, and if we like better than Web of Science then we might switch.  In case anyone asks, they can send feedback to me (Carrie Macfarlane, cmacfarl@middlebury.edu).  Here’s some info about the trial.

From the Library database trials (go/trials) page description:
Scopus is an abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature and quality web sources. Compare Scopus to Web of Science (Science Citation Index and Social Science Citation Index).

  • Contains 41 million records, 70% with abstracts
  • Nearly 18,000 titles from 5,000 publishers worldwide
  • Records since 1996 include references; earlier records have citations.

All comments are welcome, and will help us decide whether or not to purchase this resource.  *Please note: this trial ends the first week of December 2010*
