Washington Youth Garden seeks a creative and proactive individual with a passion for youth education and an interest in school gardens and social media for a paid internship. This is a paid 40 hour per week, seasonal internship in . The Summer Program Intern will facilitate our field trip program – SPROUT, and also support the coordination of our summer teacher trainings.
The intern will spend the season building garden knowledge, learning new teaching and group management techniques, and working directly with youth of all ages in our once-acre vegetable garden within the U.S. National Arboretum. They will also spend significant time communicating with other garden-based organizations, ordering and organizing materials, and supporting the logistics of our one week Summer Institute for Garden-based Teaching. Lastly, they will also support communications, social media, and special events. There is some possibility to combine this position with the Spring Program Intern. This is a good position for someone looking to expand their understanding of garden-based education and specifically within the District of Columbia.
Established in 1982, FONA is headquartered on the grounds of the Arboretum in Northeast Washington, DC. We are growing rapidly and looking to add a dynamic member to our team. The primary program of FONA is Washington Youth Garden. Founded in 1971, Washington Youth Garden provides unique environmental science and nutrition education programming for youth and families. WYG nurtures curious minds and healthy bodies by connecting youth to food, the land, and each other. Washington Youth Garden manages a one-acre organic demonstration garden on the grounds of the U.S. National Arboretum (USNA), in addition to five active school gardens. Through these outdoor classrooms, WYG offers year-round gardening and nutrition education through four programs: SPROUT, Green Ambassadors Program, Garden Science, and Family Programs. 2020 NOAA Middlebury Internship Opportunities
NOAA and Middlebury are partnering up again this year with a scaled-down 10-week summer internship program with opportunities for 23 students at 19 projects in twelve states. Two of our Middlebury alums are helping to facilitate this process and Middlebury will fund up to five (5) of those positions. Applications are open to sophomores and juniors, but there is a quick turn-around and looming deadline date of Friday, March 6th.

Washington DC Government and Policy Student Trek: March 23-24
Looking for a fun and inspiring way to spend part of your spring break? CCI and Middlebury Professional Networks are partnering to provide a “Government & Policy Student Trek” to Washington, DC on Monday, March 23 and Tuesday, March 24.
The objective is to introduce you to alumni working in all areas of government and policy and expose you to real-world professional experiences that will enable you to apply your liberal arts learning while informing your career exploration and other post-graduate planning.
Who should apply?
If you are interested in learning about or working in government or policy, this trek is for you! This trip is open to all majors, all students, but preference will be given to non-seniors as the emphasis is on exploration.
Who will we meet?
In the past we have engaged alumni who work in exciting roles on Capitol Hill, the State and Treasury departments, think thanks like Brookings or the Aspen Institute, and non-profits like the National Democratic Institute.

Organizing Corps 2020
Organizing Corps 2020’s Bootcamp and Immersion programs are on-the-ground political trainings run by campaign veterans, and focused on recruiting, training and placing students in battleground states in the 2020 presidential election.
Applications for the Democratic National Committee’s Organizing Corps 2020 are February 18th for bootcamps and March 4th for the immersion program.
This is a very cool pipeline program for organizing and development of our future political stars and leaders — and you get paid!
Vermont Business Strategy & Consulting PAID Summer Internships Info Session
Join us Tuesday, February 18 at 7 pm in ADK Library to learn more about this opportunity. For students interested in leading a business, non-profit, or other organization, or in management consulting as a career, this internship provides an in-depth hands-on experience working on key strategic management issues for a local enterprise.
Professor of the Practice Ami Biswas will be your mentor and facilitator during the summer. You will apply to 1 of the 3 choices of projects. Interns will participate in a short orientation in late April on campus and should expect to spend 30 hours per week from early June to late July on this internship, primarily working on their projects, but also including a weekly review session with the other interns.
Interns will receive guidance and mentoring from clients and an experienced management & strategy consultant. Interns will receive a stipend of $3,000 and on campus housing is available.

Nonproliferation paid Summer Internship at MIIS in CA – apply now
The James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies (CNS) at the Middlebury Institute is now accepting applications for its paid summer internship program. This is a high-value internship that involves formal curriculum and training, as well as practical experiential education working on important public policy projects with CNS experts.
CNS has been gracious enough to designate multiple positions within their highly competitive internship program specifically for Middlebury students. National Weather Service in Burlington, Vermont Currently Seeking Summer Student Volunteers
The National Weather Service (NWS) Weather Forecast Office (WFO) in Burlington, VT is now accepting applications for our Volunteer Summer Student Intern Program. The deadline for applications will be February 21st, 2020. The WFO is located at the Burlington International Airport located in South Burlington. One position will be available this year, starting in late May and continuing into early August. This position is unpaid. If you are eligible, you can apply for a summer grant for unpaid internships
Background:
- This volunteer program will give students the opportunity to learn about NWS careers by gaining valuable on-the-job experience as well as giving them the tools necessary to do hands-on research in a professional environment.
- Students can also earn academic credit if approved by their academic institution.
- Hours and days are flexible if selected for the position.
Eligibility:
- Must be an enrolled undergraduate or graduate student (half-time or more) majoring in meteorology, atmospheric sciences and related sciences.
- Undergraduate students must have completed their sophomore or junior year in order to be eligible.
- Applicants must be a U.S. citizen and are required to complete security and background checks.
Volunteer Duties:
- You will shadow forecasters on the job and learn to perform the basic duties required of an NWS employee.
- This includes data collection, quality control on incoming data, answering phones and working alongside forecasters.
- Work on a project that has some operational or training utility to the NWS.
How to Apply:
- Complete application packages will consist of a letter of recommendation from an advisor or professor, a resume highlighting your skills and interests in meteorology, a cover letter and a copy of your college transcript(s). Unofficial transcripts are acceptable.

The Middlebury Social Impact Corps program connects students to social change with unique global internship opportunities. A select cohort of Middlebury College and MIIS graduate students are chosen and matched with a social enterprise or NGO for an eight-week summer internship. The experiential learning program focuses on six pillars: adaptability, commitment, inquiry, narrative, reflection, and partnership. In partnership with organizations, MSIC members gain knowledge, skills, and dispositions for purposeful careers in social impact.
