The all new California Climate Semester, which will be offered for the first time in Winter Term and Spring Term of 2022 is now open and accepting applications. Middlebury College students will spend the winter and spring at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey learning from climate leaders at the graduate level.

Students will enroll in a team-taught Winter Term course in Monterey followed by four courses in the spring (2 electives taught by MIIS International Environmental Policy colleagues, one place-based course taught by the Director, and one practicum).

Call for Applications: Master’s Program in European & Mediterranean Studies, NYU
The Center for European and Mediterranean Studies (CEMS) at New York University is pleased to announce a call for applications to its Masters in European and Mediterranean Studies program.
Applications for Fall 2021 are being accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis. Tuition scholarships will also be offered to candidates accepted to the MA program. It is recommended to apply as soon as possible, as funds are limited. The Master’s in European and Mediterranean Studies is an interdisciplinary program in the social sciences and humanities that is designed to prepare students for professions in the public, non-profit, or private sectors requiring an advanced understanding of Europe and the Mediterranean region. Our graduates also go on to pursue Ph.D. studies in history, political science, international relations, international development, and a range of other fields.
In addition to courses offered by the CEMS Department, graduate students may take classes with a European/Mediterranean focus offered by other departments—including, but not limited to, history, politics, anthropology, cinema studies, French studies, Italian studies, Irish studies, and many other disciplines. Students may also take courses at other NYU schools—such as the School of Law or Graduate School of Public Service—as well as at Columbia University, through a special Consortium agreement existing between the two institutions.
CEMS students have the advantage of being part of a small department with dedicated faculty, ensuring close access to professors, while being part of a large research institution with a wide variety of resources available to them. Additionally, if students want to gain more professional experience, they can take advantage of the many internship opportunities in New York City, most of them for academic credit. Students can also broaden their studies with various opportunities abroad, and are encouraged to apply for summer grants to perform research, to work, or to study abroad. In the past, our candidates have received funding to study at one of our several NYU campuses abroad, to work at various NGOs, think tanks, and other European organizations, or to carry out research either independently or in the program of their own choosing.

Build Your Leadership Skills in the Nonprofit & Philanthropic Sector in CO
The El Pomar Internship is a unique summer program that introduces continuing undergraduate students to the nonprofit sector and provides an opportunity to develop professional interests and skills. Interns work with and are mentored by leaders in philanthropy. They serve an important role by providing administrative support for the Foundation’s offices. Interns receive assignments based upon the Foundation’s needs and, to the extent possible, the Interns’ interests. Interns participate in a weekly professional development series which provides insight into and practice in a professional atmosphere. Examples of past courses include investments, grant making, networking, public speaking and career planning. Each Intern fulfills an individual role but also receives meaningful interaction with the Intern class. While each Intern has a distinct learning experience, all have the opportunity to learn concepts through hands-on practice and receive the support and guidance to develop professionally. Applicants should demonstrate strong professional skills, skills in verbal and written communication, organization and time management skills, and a willingness to learn.
To learn more about the Internship, visit our website or email internship@elpomar.org and Danielle Hendrix, Internship Director, will contact you.

Global Health Corps Applications OPEN
The intersecting challenges of 2020 have underscored the importance of empathetic, collaborative leadership in protecting global health. What will it take to navigate through COVID-19, protect hard-won health gains in everything from HIV and contraception access to NCDs and malaria, and meet future crises with strength and solidarity? It will take leaders like YOU. Leaders who bring diverse skills and perspectives — plus a lot of grit and resilience — to relentlessly pursue health equity. Do you: …believe health is a human right for everyone, everywhere? ✔️ …thrive in community with others committed to social justice? ✔️ …want to hone your leadership skills so you can help transform health systems? ✔️ On December 2nd, Global Health Corps posted 40+ fellowship roles within high-impact organizations on the front lines of global health in Malawi, Rwanda, Uganda, and Zambia. For reference, check out last year’s fellowship roles, ranging from data analysis and communications to architecture and supply chain management. (Most GHC fellowship roles require no prior work experience or academic background in health.) Note about COVID-19: While it’s too early to predict exactly how the pandemic will shape our programming in 2021, we are recruiting American fellows for placement alongside Malawian, Rwandan, Ugandan, and Zambian nationals within our partner organizations. We anticipate travel restrictions will ease by July 2021 to make this possible. |
Start prepping NOW to apply: Learn about the fellowship. Read about our program, the fellowship year, our eligibility requirements, and our leadership practices. Learn more about what it’s like to be a GHC fellow by reading our digital publication AMPLIFY. Learn about what you’ll need to apply. Consider this application advice, provided by GHC alumni.
