Tourists in a moving metal box, cameras and boogie boards in hand. They’re ready to snorkel around America’s best beach 2016: Hanauma Bay. The fish there are spectacular and unafraid; bus people look uncomfortable. Whispers in Japanese, and German conversations around the intern in between. Humuhumunukunukuapua`a

It is so crazy to look at a map and see where I am – in the middle of the Pacific Ocean surrounded by thousands of miles of deep blue. Just the way I like it!

My first month in Hawaii has been wild, literally! Snorkeling with sea turtles, sailing with dolphins, watching insanely large parrotfish chomp away at coral and hanging with my favorite reef triggerfish, also known as the Humuhumunukunukuapua`a – Hawaii’s state fish.

A Day At The Marine Mammal Center

A day spent at the Marine Mammal Center in Marin, CA is always an amazing day. My organization, Root Solutions is working with the Marine Mammal Center to help them spread the message about the dangers of marine debris, and the negative effect it is having on all sea creatures, specifically marine mammals. So in order to better understand what this project is going to look like and how Root Solutions can help, a group of us were lucky enough to spend the morning being VIP’s at the Marine Mammal Center with our fantastic guide Adam.
