Greek: Class 1

Υεια σας! [Yia sas]

A BIG thank you to those who attended my Greek class today and especially for putting up with me as I struggle to recall all the information I learned in my Greek school days. I hope today’s class was beneficial for you and I look forward to our future language endeavors.

Just to recap today’s class:

-We went over the alphabet and letter pronunciations

-We learned how to ask “how are you?” Which is: “Τι κάνειs;” [Tee Ka-neeis]

To which you would respond, “Κάλα.” [Ka-la]

-Then we practiced reading and writing some basic words, like:

Lemon: Λεμόνι [le-mon-ee]

Life: Ζωή [zo-ee]

Student (female): Μαθήτρια [ma-thee-tri-a]

Student (male): Μαθητής [ma-thee-tis]

Teacher (female): Δάσκαλος [das-ka-los]

Teacher (male): Δασκάλα [das-ka-la]

I am: Είμαι [ee-me]

I am a student (male): Είμαι μαθητής. [Ee-me  ma-thee-tis]

I am a student (female): Είμαι μαθήτρια. [Ee-me  ma-thee-tri-a]

We will review letter & pronunciation briefly in our next class, but if you want so more practice or just wanted additional information, take a look at these two sites. Also, reminder: NO CLASS FRIDAY, 10/7. Our NEXT class will be 10/14. I hope you have a great weekend!
