I have been a little overwhelmed this week. I think with housing, essays, course registration….it has been a lot. I feel like I am falling into an autopilot headspace. However, I am excited to start thinking about my creative project because I have had a couple of ideas floating in my mind the past couple of weeks!
I think personal narrative, to be effective, needs to have a grounding moment/story. Other memories can follow but only having been recalled in the context of that moment. I feel like the themes I am trying to relate to are very difficult to tie back to a single moment. In other words, this is really hard.
Essay #2 is slightly frightening. Talking about it as a class and going through different structure styles was helpful. I really liked out discussion about Sula and hope we can cover more of it before moving onto Citizen.
I am really looking forward to writing essay 2. I feel pretty confident in the path I want to take for this essay and I’m excited for the creative aspect. I think I will be challenged by the interweaving of personal narrative and analytical, but it’s a good challenge. Although 8 pages in the next 3 days is daunting, I’m approaching it with a positive mindset and I’m looking forward to the writing process.
