  1. I loved being outside, and I think it always leads to more productive discussions! I continually understand the texts to a significantly deeper level when we discuss them as a group, and this week was no exception. I think especially in understanding the gender roles and Biblical nature of some of the text, these groups were incredibly thought provoking and insightful.

  2. Being outside was really nice. I also thought that being assigned to a specific chapter in a small group gave me the direction I needed to explore the text with others.

  3. I really enjoyed our final conversation on “We the Animals.” By going back over specific chapters in a small group, I was able to notice things I hadn’t before. I also got a much deeper understanding of the cyclical nature of the novella.

  4. The word brain-storm we did for Giovanni’s room was a really great way to think about the novel as a whole, to dumb it down in a sense and make it less intimidating. Being outside on Tuesday was magical. Can’t wait for beyond the page!

  5. I thought the conversations this week were productive. I feel like everyone in the class came with interesting and thought-provoking ideas that helped me think about the book “We the Animals” in a different way. I really enjoyed pairing into groups and then sharing our group ideas about specific chapters. I would love to have a debate….more like I would love if everyone was more open to challenging an idea from a class member, I feel like that would lead to interesting perspectives.

  6. I really appreciated the brain storm for words associated with Giovanni’s Room. It helps me connect dots between the novels we’ve read and this one. It was also helpful to make lists of themes for future reference when writing essay 2.

  7. I really liked our conversations about We the Animals and Giovanni’s Room. I felt like I was able to come back to the text and look at parts of the stories in new ways and understand parts I didn’t before. I also really liked our class Thursday and the activity we did with words from Giovanni’s Room.
