In the 22 years with Coach Wendell Forbes at the helm the Middlebury Panthers posted a respectable 127-159-3 record.  This included a peak of a combined 17-7 record during the 1975 and 1976 season.  More than anything Wendy Forbes ushered in a period of continued stability in the Middlebury Baseball program, straying from the previous coaching mentality of serving one or two years before moving on.  Much of what kept Forbes at the school were his deep roots with the college, as Middlebury was his alma mater where he had competed in three sports, eventually earning 12 varsity letters as well as a chance to play professional baseball for four years with the cardinals.
