Aya, 5, napping. She, her three sisters, and their parents have lived in Husan, Jordan since fleeing the Syrian war one-and-a-half years ago. The Jordanian Ministry of Education registered Aya and her sister, Duqua, 7, in a school two districts away from their home, making school inaccessible to the children. Their mother Nuha, 33, pleaded to have their children registered near their home. While afternoon school sessions are created for Syrian children, the Education Ministry argued that they registered the girls in the closet school with available space. The family is now searching for an affordable home near the girls’ school.
