Welcome to the first edition of the revitalized employee newsletter, Middpoints! We’re excited to be providing a number of enhancements to this, a key employee communication vehicle. Most importantly, employees on the Monterey campus have been added to the subscriber list for the first time – welcome MIIS friends and colleagues!
Those of you who have been receiving the newsletter right along will notice a number of changes in format and content. We are using new software that allows for the use of more color and photographs, leading – we hope – to a more visually appealing reading experience. The content has been reorganized into sections to make it easier for readers to home in on areas of interest:
- The “Institutional News” section will include articles of general interest to employees throughout the organization.
- The “Local News” section will include campus or program specific articles.
- The “Features” section will include “Ask the Expert” – an opportunity for readers to pose a question of general interest and then see the answer in print, a “Did You Know…?” section featuring interesting tidbits from human resources, “Midd/MIIS Collaboration” – a feature celebrating interesting and successful collaborative initiatives between the Middlebury and Monterey campuses, as well as important “Metrics”, and occasional special articles by our senior leadership.
- Finally, the “Lifestyle” section will include retirement announcements, a robust “Wellbeing” feature, the ever popular “Classifieds” and a new area for employees to share personal milestones such as marriage, birth and graduation announcements.
Much of our new content will come from a cadre of “correspondents” – employees in the field who have both strong writing skills and a passion for what goes on in their departments or divisions.
