Read Roosevelt’s “Forgotten Man” speech and Trump’s Inaugural Address.  Compare Roosevelt’s and Trump’s invocations of the forgotten man.  Cowie argues that Roosevelt’s speech defines the forgotten man expansively, while Trump’s forgotten man is narrowly defined in opposition to the undeserving, nonworking poor.  What is your view?
