Welcome Febs!

Middlebury loves our Feb classes, and the Writing Center, especially welcomes you to campus. The Writing Center meets with students at every stage of the writing process, from Here’s the assignment, what do I do?  to  I think this is great, but would you  look at it?  Many students find it helpful to have a peer to bounce ideas around with, and we are the authorized aid!

During the daytime, you can make an appointment with one of our three professional writing tutors.  Just click go/appt to meet with us!

During the evenings, Peer Writing Tutors are available for drop-in tutoring from 7:30 to midnight in CTLR  (Lib 225) Sunday to Thursday and some evenings in the Commons.  No appointment is necessary. Drop-in Peer Writing Tutoring begins the second week of the fall and spring semesters.

All of our writing tutors can help with oral presentations, and many can help with time management. We’ll put a poster in your campus mail box in the next weeks.

October in the Writing Center

Several exciting things are happening in the Writing Center this month:

  • Our new posters are ready, and will be up around  campus in the next few days.
  • We plan to double our peer writing tutor coverage the week after break, so from Monday, October 26-Sunday, November 1, we will have two peer writing tutors at every shift.
  • Our Book in the Air contest will end this month. Just take a picture of a book on or near campus and tag both #BookInTheAir and #MiddleburyWritingCenter on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram, and you could win a $10 Grille certificate.  We are giving away two certificates, and at least one winner will be chosen randomly.

When should you see a drop-in writing tutor?

When should you see a drop-in writing tutor?

Anytime.  Writing Tutors can help you anywhere in the process–from Here’s the assignment, what do I do now? to I think this is pretty good, but I’d like another set of eyes on it.  Bring what you have– the finished paper, a paper draft, or just the writing prompt, and our writing tutors will meet with you.

Who sees a drop-in writing tutor?

Everyone can–from seniors applying for internships and fellowships to first-years writing their first papers. Last year, there were over 2,700 student visits to writing tutors or writing and academic mentors at Middlebury College

When can you come?
