Welcome Febs!

Middlebury loves our Feb classes, and the Writing Center, especially welcomes you to campus. The Writing Center meets with students at every stage of the writing process, from Here’s the assignment, what do I do?  to  I think this is great, but would you  look at it?  Many students find it helpful to have a peer to bounce ideas around with, and we are the authorized aid!

During the daytime, you can make an appointment with one of our three professional writing tutors.  Just click go/appt to meet with us!

During the evenings, Peer Writing Tutors are available for drop-in tutoring from 7:30 to midnight in CTLR  (Lib 225) Sunday to Thursday and some evenings in the Commons.  No appointment is necessary. Drop-in Peer Writing Tutoring begins the second week of the fall and spring semesters.

All of our writing tutors can help with oral presentations, and many can help with time management. We’ll put a poster in your campus mail box in the next weeks.

Winter Term in the Writing Center

To meet with a Writing Professional,  students will want to plan ahead when possible and schedule appointments using the computer based scheduling system, go/appt.  Select :
  • Center for Teaching, Learning, and Research
  • Writing Professional Tutoring
  • Mary Ellen Bertolini

If you are new to the system, you will need to establish a user name and pass word to make an appointment.  If the scheduled times are full, or if they do not work with your schedule, you can also e-mail Mary Ellen Bertolini directly for more appointment times.

There will be no drop-in peer writing tutor hours in Winter Term.

When should you see a drop-in writing tutor?

When should you see a drop-in writing tutor?

Anytime.  Writing Tutors can help you anywhere in the process–from Here’s the assignment, what do I do now? to I think this is pretty good, but I’d like another set of eyes on it.  Bring what you have– the finished paper, a paper draft, or just the writing prompt, and our writing tutors will meet with you.

Who sees a drop-in writing tutor?

Everyone can–from seniors applying for internships and fellowships to first-years writing their first papers. Last year, there were over 2,700 student visits to writing tutors or writing and academic mentors at Middlebury College

When can you come?

Drop in Writing Tutors are back in CTLR  (LIB 225) (Sunday-Thursday 7:30 PM-midnight and in the five Commons on various nights
