Encouraging Difficult Discussions in the Classroom

Part of what it means to be an effective liberal arts educator in challenging times is to be aware of the implicit bias we bring into the classroom.  We can cultivate this awareness in many ways.  If you haven’t already taken Harvard’s Project Implicit Test, we encourage you to check it out here: https://implicit.harvard.edu/implicit/takeatest.html.  It only takes approximately 10 minutes per test.   You are welcome to do more than one, but we ask that you do at least one before the retreat.  We will be discussing our results as well as reactions to our results informally at the retreat.
