Driver Training

Through Middlebury Regional EMS, student EMTs may train to be a certified driver to respond to code 2 (not lights and sirens) and code 3 (lights and sirens) calls. This will allow for maximum flexibility for patient care in route and student EMTs to take on a larger role at MREMS.

Requirements:

19 years old
Valid US driver’s license
Passes driving record check
Current CPR/AED certification
Member of MREMS in good standing

Process:

VFIS ambulance and POV training
Vehicle orientation
Evaluation by driver instructor to determine amount of additional training (if any)
