FAO Schwarz Fellowship for Social Impact

Here is a sneak peek at the organizations selected to host the 2024 –2026  FAO Schwarz Fellowships in social impact. The fellowships are designed for graduating college seniors interested in careers in social change.

The Museum of the City of New York (New York City), Audubon MId-AtlanticThe Clay Studio, and The Food Trust (all in Philadelphia), and 826 Boston (Boston) will each host one new Fellow. Reading Partners (New York City) will host two Fellows. The FAO Schwarz Fellowship is one of a small number of paid * domestic opportunities for students interested in social impact careers. The FAO Schwarz Fellowship is incredibly proud to be working with these amazing organizations and will be announcing details about the positions on November 1. We encourage interested college seniors who are passionate about social justice and have the potential for leadership to join an online info session on December 5.  See FAO Schwarz Fellowship for more information. Knight-Hennessy Scholarship Application Now Open; Deadline Oct 11

We’re also excited to announce that the application to join the 2024 cohort of Knight-Hennessy Scholars is now open. Learn about upcoming admission eventsapplication requirements, and more on the KHS website.

The application is due by October 11, 2023 at 1 p.m. Pacific Time.

Online information sessions on July 24 and July 31: Come hear an admission officer provide a general overview of Knight-Hennessy Scholars, the admission process, and the application.

Online scholar Q&A on July 6: Fauzan Reza Maulana (2020 cohort) from Indonesia answers your questions about what it’s like to be a KHS scholar and a Stanford graduate student. 

[New] Online application workshop on July 20: Already started your application? In an interactive session, an admission officer will walk you and other prospective scholars through the KHS application, highlighting requirements and sharing tips for navigating the admission process.

Applications Open for the Frederick Douglas Global Fellowship (summer program)

During the four-week summer program, 12 fellows will travel to Washington, DC, Cape Town, Dublin, Derry, and Belfast to explore the legacies of Frederick Douglass, Abraham Lincoln, John Lewis, Nelson Mandela, Bishop Desmond Tutu, Daniel O’Connell, John Hume, and other giants of social change.  The program runs July 7 – August 4, 2023, with the first week taught virtually and the next three weeks taught on-site. Fellows will study how changemakers shaped pathways to peace, including the Emancipation Proclamation in America, the end of Apartheid in South Africa, and the Good Friday Agreement in Northern Ireland. Eligibility

  • Be a current undergraduate freshman, sophomore or junior
  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.3
  • Be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national or permanent resident
  • Identify as an ethnicity typically underrepresented on study abroad programs (e.g. American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian, Black/African American, Hispanic/Latino or Native Hawaiian/Other Pacific Islander).
  • Submit a complete application no later than February 14

Summer Fellowship at George Washington’s Mount Vernon, Application Deadline 1/31/20

The Mount Vernon Leadership Fellows Program is a highly selective summer institute for rising college juniors. The program (May 23 – July 4, 2020 ) offers unparalleled learning and networking opportunities at the home of America’s first president, located just outside our nation’s capital.

Fully Funded Summer Leadership Program
Students spend six weeks living and learning at George Washington’s Mount Vernon. Transportation, meals and a $3,000 stipend are provided.
Eligibility requirements:
Currently enrolled college sophomore in good standing
Proven leadership ability and involvement
All majors welcome
Demonstrated interest in proposed capstone project
Cumulative GPA of 3.4 or higher
Current U.S. Citizen
