Info Sessions Coming Soon for Watson, Fulbright, British and Schwarzman Scholarships

The fellowships office will host information sessions in the spring semester for students interested in learning more and applying to the Watson, Fulbright, British, and Schwarzman Scholarships. Look here for dates and times shortly. A few notes:

  1. Students interested in applying for Rhodes, Marshall, Churchill or Mitchell Scholarship nomination MUST submit an internal application by April 7. See our website  for more info.
  2. Students interested in applying for the Fulbright and Watson fellowships are STRONGLY encouraged to submit a preliminary application for these by April 15. This does not commit you to applying, but will help you get started in a timely way.

Students are not eligible to apply in the fall 2018 application cycle are still encouraged to attend the info sessions and learn more!

Naina Qayyam ’15 Middlebury’s First Schwarzman Scholar! #SchwarzmanScholars

Naina Qayyam ’15 was recently named one of 129 new Schwarzman Scholars! The second class of Schwarzman Scholars is composed of students from 30 countries and 75 universities with 45% from the United States, 20% from China, and 35% from the rest of the world. Schwarzman Scholars is quickly becoming the premier training ground for future leaders, educating and preparing the world’s most exceptional men and women to confront the most difficult challenges of the coming century and develop an understanding of China necessary to lead in the future. This fully-funded Master’s degree program, founded by Blackstone Chairman, CEO and Co-Founder Stephen A. Schwarzman, is housed at Tsinghua University in Beijing, one of China’s premier institutions. Inspired by the Rhodes Scholarship, Schwarzman Scholars is a highly selective international scholarship program designed to prepare future leaders for success in a world where China plays a key global role. The program provides a fully-funded one-year Master’s Degree in Global Affairs at Tsinghua University – one of China’s most prestigious universities.

Eligible applicants for Schwarzman Scholars must be between 18 and 28 years of age, be proficient in English, and have completed an undergraduate degree at the point of enrollment.

Schwarzman Scholars Event in Washington, DC on June 20

Schwarzman Scholars is hosting an event for young professionals in Washington, DC on Monday, June 20. Robert Garris, Global Director of Admissions, will present on key details of Schwarzman Scholars, including the vision behind the program, the newly constructed, state-of-the-art facilities, the academic curriculum, and the admissions process.

Inspired by the Rhodes Scholarship, Schwarzman Scholars is a highly selective international scholarship program designed to prepare future leaders for success in a world where China plays a key global role. The program will give selected scholars the opportunity to develop their leadership skills through a fully-funded, one-year Master’s Degree in Global Affairs at Tsinghua University – one of China’s most prestigious universities.

Eligible applicants for Schwarzman Scholars must be between 18 and 28 years of age, be proficient in English, and have completed an undergraduate degree at the point of enrollment.

Schwarzman Scholarship Info Session 4/19 at 4:30pm, Library 201

The Schwarzman scholarship, inspired by the Rhodes scholarship, is a program designed to help future leaders meet the challenges of the 21st century and beyond by preparing them to better understand China’s culture, economy, and governance. Up to 200 Scholars chosen annually from around the world for this highly selective, fully-funded program will have an unrivaled opportunity to live in Beijing for a year of study and cultural immersion, attending lectures, traveling and developing first-hand exposure to China and its people. Scholars will study for a one-year Masters degree in public policy, international relations, or economics and business at Tsinghua University. Program conducted in English. Open to students of all citizenships. Application cycle: senior fall; also open to young alumni.
