Graduate Study in China with the Yenching Scholarship; Application Deadline December 3

The Yenching Academy offers a highly customizable Master’s program in China studies for English speakers with varied levels of Chinese language competency. At the core of the program lies its emphasis on interdisciplinarity and the value it assigns to thinking about China; past, present and future – from both Chinese and international perspectives. It also aims to push the study of China beyond the boundaries of traditionally defined humanities and social science disciplines, and is designed to incorporate the experiences and intellectual training of a diverse international student body.

2024 Applicant Qualifications
Application for the 2024 cohort of Yenching Scholars will be open from August
15 to December 3, 2023. Candidates must submit all materials before 12:00 noon
(Beijing time) on the deadline. Letters of recommendation must also be received by

Eligibility

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in any field, or be currently enrolled in a
    Bachelor degree program and be on track to graduate no later than August 31
    of the year in which they wish to enroll;
  • An outstanding academic record;
  • Strong interest in interdisciplinary study of China;
  • A record of extracurricular achievement, community engagement, social
    responsibility, and leadership potential;
  • English proficiency.
  • While there is no age cut-off for applicants, the average age of students entering the
    program is 23. No one older than 28 has been admitted.

Admission Q&As: An admission officer answers questions from prospective scholars, focusing on the KHS admission process and application. There is a short overview of the criteria and application requirements. (Aug. 8, Aug. 17, Aug. 22, Aug. 31)

Hertz Fellowship Info Session Aug 17

Are you a STEM student interested in a PhD? The Hertz Fellowship empowers the nation’s most promising doctoral students in science and technology to pursue research that best advances US security and economic vitality. Hertz Fellows receive up to five years of funding offering flexibility from the traditional constraints of graduate training and the independence to innovate. They join an influential network of peers, providing a unique engine for professional development and collaboration. (Eligible applicants must be US citizens or permanent residents.)

The 2024 Hertz Fellowship application opens on Monday, August 14, 2023. Hertz is hosting an online information session for prospective applicants on Thursday, August 17, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. eastern. Registration is required to attend.

McCall MacBain Scholarship for Graduate Study at McGill University Now Open

Applications are now open for the McCall MacBain Scholarships

This program brings together students who strive to engage in positive change by taking on meaningful leadership roles. We will offer up to 130 scholarships and awards valued at more than $3.3 million to candidates who demonstrate exceptional character, community engagement, leadership potential, entrepreneurial spirit, academic strength, and intellectual curiosity. Two-thirds of these scholarships are for Canadian students, and one-third for international students.
 
What does the McCall MacBain Scholarship cover?
Tuition and fees for one of 150+ eligible masters programs at McGill University
A living stipend of $2,000 per month during academic terms
A relocation grant and summer funding options
Mentors, advisors, and coaching
A leadership development program
Up to 10 fully-funded McCall MacBain Scholarships, 25 finalist awards of $20,000, and 15 regional awards of $10,000 are available for international candidates.

September 27, 2023 is the deadline for students to submit their applications.
