For fellowships with an early fall deadline–Fulbright, Rhodes, Marshall, Mitchell, Churchill, Watson–summer is the time to be working on your applications. For several of these, you need to arrange for affiliations with an institution, faculty member, or lab as part of the application process–and August is a very hard time to try to reach academics abroad! Project proposals too need a tremendous amount of editing before submission. And your chances of being nominated for a particular fellowship increase with a convincing, well-considered, and well-written proposal. Faculty mentors can help and I’m available to read and respond to proposals during the summer. I’m also around for appointments by phone or in person if you’re on campus to discuss any questions you have. You can reach me at 802-443-3183 or firstname.lastname@example.org .
