Dear readers,

Thanks for coming to the site. Damon and I just made this site and wanted to give a brief introduction and explain of our goals and intentions for the blog. We hope to use it to share our thoughts, reflections, and analysis on Middlebury College sports, starting this fall season. The content will range from season previews to thoughts on major story lines to post-game summaries and interviews with athletes. We are going to focus mostly on football and men’s basketball, due to those being the areas where we feel we have the most to offer, but will cover other sports as well, when we have worthwhile insight on those teams.

We would also like to share a little about ourselves to give you an idea of our perspective. We are both Middlebury students, I being a Junior and Damon a Senior Feb (Class of 2013.5). We are huge sports fans, and have spent the past two years (and a half for Damon) becoming increasingly obsessed with Panther sports. Our love of Middlebury basketball has taken us to games in Rochester, Salem, Keene, Amherst, and Williams. There are few teams, in any sport at any level, that either of us have enjoyed supporting more than the past two years’ Middlebury men’s basketball squads. And, considering our die-hard backgrounds, that is saying a lot. Our fandom has also included a pre-season NESCAC fantasy football draft, a D-III March Madness bracket competition, and constant reading of NESCAC chatter at d3boards.com. We have been lucky enough to cover the Panthers teams we love in various ways as well. Damon is the director of sports broadcasting for WRMC Middlebury College radio, and also a sports editor at the Middlebury Campus. He regularly interviews Middlebury coaches and spent this past summer working for Director of Athletics Erin Quinn. He has been broadcasting sports here at Middlebury for the past two years, and is almost certainly the play-by-play man you hear anytime you turn on a Panther game. I joined him as a color commentator of football and basketball games during the past academic year, and will have the same role going forward. We also host a weekly sports talk radio show on WRMC together, and have done so for the past two years (along with co-host Justin Collins, who has now left us for the real world). This fall semester, we will be on the radio every Sunday from 11 am to 12:30 pm. We had the idea for this blog after realizing our love for sports blogging this past summer when we chronicled our road trip to all thirty Major League Baseball stadiums.

Our hope is that this blog can serve as an avenue of sharing our Middlebury fanhood with you. We have a lot to say, and are hoping there are people out there who want to hear it, or have something to say back. Please stay tuned as we enjoy what looks to be another exciting season in Middlebury sports.

Thanks for reading. Go Panthers.
