The date for The 29th Annual New England Young Writers’ Conference at Bread Loaf has been set for May 16-19, 2013.
The 2012 Conference fee is $375.00 per student. There is a $20.00 application fee, and applications need to include a stamped, self-addressed business envelope. (Note that applications failing to follow the instructions will be ineligible for acceptance.) All application materials need to be postmarked by November 15, 2012. Scholarships: This year we are pleased to announce that we are able to offer a small number of partial need-based scholarships. Students interested in being considered for a need-based scholarship need to include a letter from their school confirming that they receive some form of financial aid such as free or reduced lunches (in public schools) or a need based scholarship (in private schools).
Teachers. Once again, we ask your help in making this opportunity known among your enthusiastic and talented student writers. Below you will find downloadable application forms. Feel free to duplicate this form. Teachers should give copies to juniors and exceptional sophomore writers who show commitment to their writing. Each high school in New England and New York may select no more than five student applications, we will accept no more than two to come to the conference. Students who have attended previously may not reapply. If some of your students are not able to meet the application or conference costs, we hope that your school can aid those accepted to the Conference by providing financial assistance. Faculty sponsors need to check their student applications to make sure that they are complete. New this year, all sponsoring teachers will be eligible to apply to be a chaperone.
