Campus Open Forum

The Office of the Dean of the College, Community Council, and the Student Government Association are excited to announce our first collaborative Campus Open Forum Event.

The topic for this first event will be Sexual Assault and Resources on College Campuses. We will hear from Middlebury’s Sexual Assault Oversight Committee, the SGA Director of Health and Wellness, and other relevant groups. One goal of this gathering is to learn more about the current resources on campus and to create a space for feedback regarding ways we can improve sexual assault prevention and education on our campus. Moreover, all community members will have the opportunity to express their views.

Additionally, at these monthly events, students and all members of the community will have the opportunity to speak on any topic in addition to the featured topic.

Our first event is scheduled for Wednesday November 7 at 7:30pm in Crossroads Café.

All are welcome and encouraged to attend! There will be cookies.

Best wishes,

Shirley Collado, Dean of the College
Charlie Arnowitz, Student Government Association President
Barrett Smith, Community Council Co-Chair

Dear Students:

I write to inform you of the opportunity to nominate a student or student group for the Student Leadership Awards.

We have many awards and prizes that honor our students for their leadership and engagement in campus and community life. Students, faculty, and staff are all invited to nominate students and student organizations for these leadership awards.

Please take some time to visit our new Student Leadership Awards webpage to learn more about each award and to submit nominations electronically.

The deadline to submit nominations is March 2.

We have such amazing students that are doing great things, on and off campus, that we hope you will take the time to recognize their leadership, talent, and impact by nominating them for any of the awards and prizes available.

Snow Bowl Marketing Survey Contest!

Greetings to the Middlebury College Community,

The Snow Bowl is conducting a Marketing Survey to better understand the characteristics of the typical customer. As a member of the Middlebury College community, you are an important part of the Snow Bowl customer base and we value your opinions of how we conduct day-to-day business here at the mountain. If you could take 2 minutes to fill out our Marketing Survey, it would provide us with important information that is necessary to continue improving the Snow Bowl customer experience and its integration with the college community. When you have completed the Marketing Survey, you will be entered into a drawing to WIN an All-inclusive Half Day Guided Fly Fishing Trip in Vermont for 1 Person from Stream and Brook Fly Fishing (valued at $150). MiddNotes: Communicating with All Students

A message from Shirley Collado, Dean of the College

Dear Students,

I write with an important announcement about the future of all-student emails.

LIS has announced the launch of the portal, an online gateway to information about Middlebury, like events, dining hall menus, and more. If you visit the student portal at go/students, you will see a module called MiddNotes, which features news and announcements for you. MiddNotes is also located at go/middnotes or, if you are off-campus, http://go.middlebury.edu/middnotes.

In an effort to reduce the number of all-student emails, MiddNotes will become the primary means of communicating with the entire student body (excluding announcements related to emergencies, policy, or compliance, or other special exceptions). If you have an announcement to share with your fellow students, please visit go/post (http://go.middlebury.edu/post). Once you login with your Middlebury username and password, you may post to the blog. Messages will be approved for final posting by the SGA in a timely fashion. Please note that you will not be permitted to post events; you should submit all events to the College events calendar. You should also note that MiddNotes is not limited to official student organizations; if you have information to share that would be of interest to the entire student body, you are welcome to submit it.

Thank you for your cooperation as the College works to streamline internal communications. If you have any questions about MiddNotes, please contact Jennifer Herrera at jherrera@middlebury.edu.

Best,
Shirley
