Wonderful article. However, I have one objection: "He reminded us that no tyrant can ever burn an e-book." This is literally, but not metaphorically, true. Search for any (reasonable) combination of "Amazon" "Kindle" "Revoke" "Books" and "DRM" and you'll come up with plenty of links that support this. Here are a few (the top 2 for a DuckDuckGo search for "amazon kindle books revoked"):

https://www.pcworld.com/article/168654/kindle_e_book.html
http://www.guardian.co.uk/money/2012/oct/22/amazon-wipes-customers-kindle-deletes-account

A nice ending quote (from a different article):
"$15 to rent a file that contains a book that can be taken away from you at any time, without explanation or recourse, starts to sound a little expensive."

I remember working for Dwight when he was editor of the Campus (newspaper). I remember well the energy, enthusiasm and intellectual vigor he brought to the job. So glad to see he has followed his passion and is seeing positive results! Loved a recent feature article he wrote for the Times on parenting, kids and movies. Will look forward to seeing more of his work.

“Having an editor as a young writer of any kind, and especially as a critic learning to hone your arguments – I can’t stress how important that is."

.....Whoa! There's a sentence badly in need of an editor! Nevermind! I'll look forward to seeing Garner's reviews in the Times.
