I live in the D.C. area and was was able to visit the Solar Decathlon. I left the Middlebury House exhilarated by the students’ articulation of their vision and their accomplishment and the excellence of the design’s application to the Vermont environment. Made me proud as an alum.

Congrats! I’m currently a grad student at Maryland University, but as an 07′ MIDD alum, I made no secret of which team I was really rooting for. All the schools in the top three, Maryland included, were terrified of the MIDD team – that’s how good you guys were. You were the team to beat, and you guys never backed down. I hope there’s another Solar Decathlon in MIDD’s future!

As a Solar Decathlete alum (’05), the accomplishment of this team should not be under stated. The event is a very difficult competition and for a small, liberal arts college to compete at all is amazing, MUCH less placing FOURTH! I’m still in awe and proud of my alma mater! Go MIDD!
