Thursday, Sept. 8, marked a big milestone for Middlebury’s Solar Decathlon team. After a brief ceremony that included congratulations from President Ron Liebowitz, the team loaded the first section of its two-bedroom, solar-powered home onto a flatbed truck to begin the journey to West Potomac Park in Washington, D.C. The rest of the house will be loaded up in the coming days. The team will reassemble the house for the Solar Decathlon competition, which opens to the public on Friday, Sept. 23, and runs through Saturday, Oct. 1. Watch MiddMag for future Dispatches on the team’s adventures in D.C.
