I am anxious to see it survive. I was in the house at the time of the strike, on the afternoon of July 19, and wrote to a friend: “I think the ginkgo tree in front got tagged. I heard/felt/saw the simultaneous burst of thunder and lightening. It certainly felt… um, local.” As I write, the tree is outside the window of my study, overlooking my work.
