Middlebury

A philanthropy network that supports Middlebury athletes. Go Blue!

! As our students settle in here at Middlebury and begin another successful season for the women’s basketball team, I’d like to share my reflections on the past year and the year ahead.

The 2016–2017 season was a successful one. Our team gained national recognition being ranked #14 in the Division III WBCA Academic Top 25, ending the academic year with a team GPA of 3.549. With an overall record of 17-8, our young team rose to the occasion and doubled the number of NESCAC wins from the previous two seasons— winning six games and having the opportunity to host a NESCAC quarterfinal game. I am very proud of what our team has been able to accomplish in the last three seasons.

We’re all looking forward to a successful season on and off the court for our student-athletes. With everyone returning from last season, as well as two first-years, our team is committed to working its way to the top of the NESCAC and into the NCAA tournament. The team has been training this fall and is eager for the official start of the season on November 1.

I am writing today to ask you to support the team this year. Our fundraising goal is to raise $15,000 to help cover some of the expenses for our out-of-conference trip to California to play two games vs. Claremont and Pomona in December. The majority of the cost is covered by the athletes and their families, but for the rest, we rely on gifts from our alumni to make this affordable for all of our team members. No amount is too small; anything you can give will be greatly appreciated.
You know as well as I do that women’s basketball and athletics as a whole play an important role in offering a world-class educational experience at Middlebury. Please take this chance to support our team with a gift today!
