Middlebury

A philanthropy network that supports Middlebury athletes. Go Blue!

Greetings from Middlebury! The 2018–19 academic year is in full swing and we have enthusiastically welcomed a new group of first-years to campus. This fall, the first-years and returners have been busy with fall ball practices, lifts, team get-togethers, volunteering, and working field hockey games. Things are off to a great start.

One of the highlights of the fall was our annual Fall Clinic on October 7. This is always one of our favorite days of the year as we watch our players become coaches. We enjoyed seeing them encourage and inspire participants to leave their comfort zones and try new things. This is an important day for recruiting future Panthers, and also for fundraising purposes.

We continue to strive for excellence on the field, especially after coming up just short of a National Championship last season. One aspect to staying competitive is utilizing new technology to increase the learning curve of our student-athletes. Every year we discover new tools and software that can help us analyze player performance and growth. These capabilities come at a cost and we are always grateful for support that allows us to stay on the cutting edge of technology.

Another major expense is our spring break trip. This year we will kick off the week-long vacation by taking on Bowdoin in Brunswick, ME on the first Saturday of break. This will be a rematch of the 2018 NESCAC Finals, so it promises to be a great game. From there, we will fly to Baltimore and prepare to play Salisbury on Monday afternoon. We will then face York on Wednesday, and travel back to Middlebury to prepare for Amherst at home to round out spring break. We are expecting four incredibly competitive match-ups this year and we are very excited to take on the challenge! We hope to see local alumnae at a game or two during our travels.

It’s a jam-packed trip, but as you probably remember, that’s what makes for the best memories. In consideration of our technological needs as well as our spring break trip, our goal is to raise $20,000 in addition to the proceeds from our Fall Clinic
