 New sector alliance operate two AmeriCorps programs:

  • The Residency in Social Enterprise (RISE)† program is an 11-month program operating from September – July.  Residents are young professionals with up to five years of work experience after graduating from college.
  •   The Summer Fellowship program is an 11-week summer program operating from June – August. Summer Fellows are undergraduate students, and recent college graduates. Learn more and apply as a Summer Fellow.

   New Sector AmeriCorps Program Participants (Residents and Fellows) are selected from a competitive applicant pool to provide Boston or San Francisco Bay Area organizations (“host sites”) support that enhances the organizations’ service to their constituents. Residents engage in capacity-building projects such as measuring impact, developing collaborations and partnerships, promoting effective use of technology, engaging volunteers, and expanding communication and strategic marketing efforts. We develop each project in coordination with host sites to ensure a substantive, high-impact experience that benefits the host site and larger community, while building the program participant’s character as well as leadership, civic engagement and professional skills.

  • Learn from and with an exceptional cohort of other New Sector AmeriCorps program participants, all dedicated to enhancing Social Impact.
  • Receive exclusive mentor support for a management consultant and/or non-profit leader.
  • Benefit from the support of program staff, dedicated to supporting you in your success in your placement, your project, and your professional goals. 

Compensation and Benefits

Residents receive a stipend and benefits totaling roughly $30,000 in value, along with a certificate of completion of New Sector’s training curriculum. Compensation includes:

  • Living stipend of $19,000
  • Health-care coverage with no financial contribution from the Resident
  • An end-of-year $5,550 Segal AmeriCorps Education Award, distributed upon successful completion of the program and good for outstanding loans or future educational expenses at any accredited institution in the United States.

Residents must  be U.S. Citizens or Permanent Residents
