Internship at Patuxent Research Refuge- Deadline 12/14/09

The Patuxent Research Refuge is looking to hire two Environmental Education & Interpretation Interns.

The internship will run from February 16th – May 22nd, 2010 (flexible to change), at U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Patuxent Research Refuge, Laurel, Maryland. Interns provide visitor information services, assist with public events, teacher and scout workshops, develop education materials, design and lead interpretive programs for all ages, and assist with biological monitoring when applicable. Work schedule will be 40 hours a week, including weekends (two days off during week). 

The salary would be $195 per week subsistence and dormitory housing may be available.

Qualifications: Must have well-developed communication skills and leadership ability and be able to work independently and as part of a team.  Applicants must have experience working with children and adults, and should have (or be pursuing) a Bachelor’s degree in environmental education, natural resources, wildlife biology or other related field.  Although a work vehicle will be provided for official duties, applicants must have a personal vehicle.
