Preserve – Summer Internship

Summer Internship
Waltham, MA

Preserve is the leading maker of performance driven and stylish 100% recycled household products, including the Preserve toothbrush, razor, tableware, and the award-winning Preserve Kitchen line. The Preserve Summer Internship is designed to be highly focused and support essential elements for Preserve’s future success.

We have identified 5 projects that interns can focus on. Please review these and detail in your cover letter why one or two of these is of interest and how you will make this initiative a success:

More with Less – Preserve was founded in 1996 with a recycled toothbrush concept embodying a radical mission: to reverse the harm caused by the industrial age. Every day our efforts at Preserve reaffirm our commitment to our mission, but we are not doing enough.  We have the ideas and expertise to transform businesses and consumers in a fundamental way, and we need to take action now.  Over the past three months we have taken new steps to spark the next revolution in our evolution.  We have over a million consumers, a brand on its way to becoming a household name, a deep knowledge of sustainable design and environmental issues, relationships with most major retailers, and an array of partners with new ones knocking on our door everyday.  We are looking for a project manager to support the organizing and planning of a new project which, in collaboration with partners, will take bold new steps towards a sustainable world.

Gimme5 – Preserve Gimme 5 program  has attracted more attention than we expected. Consumers are excited, retailers want to join, and other consumer products companies want a part. We are looking for a project manager to produce a plan which will take Gimme 5 to the next level with new retail partners and other consumer product companies.

Partnerships – At least once per week, well-established brands approach Preserve about working together – ranging from licensing Preserve, to joint product development to co-branding. This project will entail reviewing interest to date, categorizing the types of interest, researching best practices in the marketplace, developing a licensing strategy and building a business plan that helps us take advantage of these opportunities.

Finance – Over the past year we have completed a major overhaul of our financial system. Now we are eager to reap the benefits of this project and are looking for an intern to develop ongoing systems and reports to analyze ROI of new products, scrutinize product margins and detail areas for cost reductions, and develop a method and model for our pricing strategy as we continue to sell into new channels of business.

Engaging Consumers – A key element of Preserve’s success has been our engagement with consumers. Our Preservers, as we prefer to call our “consumers,” love to tell our story and are often found sharing our products with friends and family. We continue to seek deeper engagement with our Preservers, leveraging social networking tools and other cutting edge techniques. We seek an intern who will audit our current methods, research best practices and develop a detailed plan for the future.

If you have a specific talent or idea that you feel would support growing Preserve but does not fit into any of the above categories, we would welcome your pitch.
