Two Winter Term Internship Opportunities

The Lake Champlain Committee currently has two internship opportunities. Successful candidates should have a background in natural resource management and excellent writing and research skills.

Internship 1 – Water Quality Policy
The successful candidate will work with the Lake Champlain Committee to research and evaluate water quality policies associated with nutrients and human pathogens.  The work will help guide LCC’s approach to on-going revisions of the Vermont Water Quality Standards and proposed phosphorus legislation in New York. A secondary task involves investigating the presence and impacts of certain potentially toxic compounds in Lake Champlain and identifying alternatives to their use.

Internship 2 – Municipal Adaptation to Climate Change
The successful candidate will work with the Lake Champlain Committee to identify and select a limited number of New York and Vermont towns in the Lake Champlain watershed, review their regulations, identify areas within the regulations that affect water quality, and identify changes to the regulations that may help communities adapt to predicted local impacts associated with climate change.
